Spinal Designs International, Inc. is a privately held company headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The company was established in 1987 when it acquired a hospital-based inpatient program from world-famous Sister Kenny Institute, Minneapolis. Key to that purchase was a core of medical technology and integrated training protocols which offered a proven, patient-empowered approach to the treatment and rehabilitation of chronic and/or recurring low back pain.
Since then, Spinal Designs has enhanced the original programs into a best-practices chronic disease management model deliverable in an outpatient setting. To ensure effectiveness, it developed a unique outcomes data system to track, measure and evaluate patient results from each scientifically engineered LIFEBACK program.
In 1994, Spinal Designs introduced its first product, a low back rehabilitation program, to spine-care clinicians and payers as a means of reducing costs and improving outcomes for persons with chronic low back pain. In 2001, we introduced a condensed version of the low back program as another way to help people achieve “healthy backs for life.” Similar comprehensive and condensed programs for patients with chronic neck pain were introduced in 2003.
The company’s entire rehab program line-up was renamed to LIFEBACK™ Spine Programs in 2005. This name reflects what countless patients tell us are some of the programs’ greatest benefits they give the patient his/her independence and quality of life back.
Spinal Designs currently licenses its LIFEBACK Spine Programs through a network of LIFEBACK Spine Rehab Clinics in Minnesota and North Dakota. Due in substantial part to our evidence-based database that proves program effectiveness, more than 400 insurance companies provide reimbursement.
Our growth plan is to create more convenient access for patients by increasing the number of lifeback Spine Rehab Clinics in order for more chronic back and neck pain patients to benefit from our successful and progressive LIFEBACK programs.
