Mercy Medical Center Licenses LIFEBACK™ Spine Programs from Spinal Designs International

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – June 21, 2007 - Spinal Designs International, Inc. and Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, have signed an agreement whereby Mercy Medical Center will now offer LIFEBACK™ Spine Programs as an extension of care for their chronic spine disease and injury patients.

“This program will enable us to help many of our patients who suffer from chronic back and neck pain to regain their quality of life,” said Penny Glanz, administrator of surgical services at Mercy. “With the inclusion of LIFEBACK within Mercy’s care continuum, patients have additional assurance of functional recovery from their pain.”

“We are pleased that LIFEBACK Spine Programs have been selected by this highly respected health care organization to optimize non-surgical and post-operative spine patient outcomes,” said Lisa Lavin, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Spinal Designs.

LIFEBACK Spine Programs are like no other therapy option. LIFEBACK Programs are designed to enable non-operative and post-operative patients to recover from chronic (>12 weeks pain) and recurring back and neck pain by engaging a whole-person approach to what is a whole-person problem.

LIFEBACK Spine Programs are evidence-based, scientifically-engineered, active rehabilitation programs that integrate core strengthening and stabilization training, flexibility training, unloading therapies, and therapeutic activities that support cognitive behavioral change. Patients completing a LIFEBACK Program are monitored and coached for two years to reinforce program compliance, and gather patient outcomes data. Documented results on thousands of patients show that LIFEBACK Programs help chronic spine pain sufferers reduce their pain.

LIFEBACK programs are delivered by specially trained spine rehab therapists through a growing network of LIFEBACK Spine Rehab Clinics in the Midwest. More than 400 insurance companies provide reimbursement for LIFEBACK programs.
